For those who have asked who made my new darts and where they can also get some like them, and for those who have PM'd me or posted comments on the last entry about the darts pictured there, I am posting the contact information of the gentleman who made mine. And here it is:
145 Rembrandt Pl
London, ON N6C 5G9
The last two lines are his email address, just stick an @ between them. I did it this way to spare him any spam that might be generated otherwise.
He made mine to exact specifications. I described them as I wanted them, detailing barrel length, weight, texture, nose shape, taper points, everything. He delivered precisely what I asked for and I am very please with the darts.
He has a unique MP system. His moving points are excellent and I use them on both my sets of GTs now. You can see a cross section of one that he'd cut in half for demonstration purposes. He uses an o-ring to slow and stabalize the movement of the point. His collars are also very low profile, similar to the GT collars.
He also has a unique stem system. And it may be the most clever stem system I have ever seen on a dart. He use a section of a Q-tip stem as a spacer to hold in the rod and top of a titanium shaft. Good stuff. Perhaps he'll log in and leave a comment.
Please let him know you heard of him through Zeeple at The Dart Indoors. Cheers folks and good darting!

Dare I ask "pricing" range?
Absolutely, but it is not I you should ask. You really need to contact Jeff for pricing, as he really specialized in custom work. If you wanted to buy a set of darts pictured, AS IS, i.e. off a pattern that already exists he would likely cut you a deal. But I cannot speak to the pricing. Please shoot him an email or give him a call.
Zeeple can the GT shafts be used with this? Just wondering they look nice, how do they "throw"
Zeeple how close are they to GTs
My opinion is that they are nothing like GTs at all. They are a completely different dart with a completely different feel to them and they even throw differently. They throw quite well, in fact. They are a reall solid feeling dart with a nice smooth barrel. I prefer them over the GT's but I do not considere them a "replacement".
Don't get me wrong. The GT's are great darts. I own a few sets of them and I like them a lot, these are just different and in my mind they do not classify the same as GT's at all. The only common element is that both are tapered and there are manny darts out there that are tapered.
Oh, and to answer your question about the shafts, GT shafts cannot be used on them. GT shafts can only be used on GTs (and other Bottelsen darts I guess).
Besides the ones shown what shafts can be used?
Well, if you are asking about his special shaft system, there is a plastic lined hole in the back of the darts which accomodate a titanium shaft. So only this style shaft can be used. However, if you see in the second photo, one of the darts has 2BA threading and can take any kind of shaft at all.
I faxed Jeff what I was looking for weight, lenght, threading, etc. The pattern I wanted was like the one that is on this post with the smooth barrel. Jeff said that one was like 19 grams, But he was willing to work with me on what I wanted. Update to follow.
Add note: The price was not as bad as I thought, especially for custom darts.
Awesome. Be sure to send a pic of the darts when they are done!
What happened to this thread???
Did kdog get the darts?
How are the dagnabits different from GTs?
Actually I am not sure if kdog ever did get his darts. I hope he did and I'll see if he has a pic anywhere.
I am not sure that you can really compare the Dagnabits to the GT line by Bottelsen. They are very different darts. I have mentioned this many times throughout my blog but I absolutely love Bottelsen and the GT line. I have three sets of GT's in various styles and weights. I think the GT's have the best taper in the business and if you wanted a MP dart with ultra-cool styling the GT is definitely a good chaoice.
If you want something taylored to your own ideas of what a dart should be then definitely ask Jeff for a quote. The dags are 2ba threaded, whereas the GT's are threaded very small for a special shaft you buy from Bottelsen. Also, the dags are only minutely tapered whereas the GT's have a very salient, and attractive taper. The dags are fixed point, the GT's are not.
just let you guys know haven't not got the darts i'm still thinking on weight and design. i think i have the right weight for them but not sure on the knurl for the barrel. will keep you updated, but it should be in the near future.
sorry about the delay but work is hell and have not had time to catch up on ANY darts, which sucs.
Kdog! Long time no hear from dude. I was just thinking about you today and wondering if you were still thinking about those darts. I am deep in the throws of another design which of course I think will be the most killerest design ever for darts. I am stoked just thinking about them.
what's Z i'm still trying to narrow it down on the design but i think i got it. when i get them i'll try to send a picture of them. can't wait to see your new design.
Excellent, I am glad you are going forward with it. Do you have any drawings of what you are looking for? Sometimes it helps to run your ideas by another person before you have them made. Never know what kida suggestions you will like. Also, JP has been doing the tournament circuit lately and has not been responding to emails much. When he is back home he may continue making sets for people.
No drawings, it's will be mostly likely the one the one with the ring knurl on the info. sheet that you have on your blog.Moastly likely 24 grams, MP, 2ba thread, and "front-loaded" if possible.
Thanks for the info. A couple of my more accomplished customers will be very interested in this blog, together with the contact information.
Thanks for providing it.
Right on mate. Glad I could help and it is nice to know you folks down under check my blog. I know at least one guy down there, Wazza180, has ordered darts from Jeff Pickup before. Cheers!
There is a company in Germany called EVOLUTION Dart-Technologie
They make some really interesting designs.
They have one that has fins on the nose of the barrel that is supposed to make the dart fly really well.
Expensive though. $250 +
I have a set of darts that I've played with for the last 11 years and love! I would like another set made exactly like them in 18 grams. Is this something he can do?
Absolutely it is. I have had him duplicate several darts for me! Shoot him and email and let him know you heard about him here. Good luck!
I got a set of his darts at last years Nationals. 21 gm GT style with ring grip. They're great. The point has such a smooth motion and it uses the Q-tip to hold the wire shaft in place. I have been talking with him and am looking at getting a set of the split atom style with the same grip.
