Why I like Pears

I threw a dart at the board the other day and then could not find it. At first I thought it bounced out and so I looked around on the ground for a split second before I glanced up and saw it. It was the most perpendicular dart I'd seen in a while. It virtually disappeared on the board. (So of course I snapped a pic.)

This is why I like my Black Poly Pears. The shape of the flight seems to fit with my dart preferences and throwing style for really good perpendicular lands in the board. Having your dart land this way helps a lot. You see less of the dart so it is less of a distraction, and you block your targets less so you have to 'go downstairs' less for a good shot. This is why I like my Pears.

Changed from standard to pear flights again recently. And yes, I love them. Improved my game a lot. They are going straight to the board. Shot 6 x 180 in the last 10 days. Cheers

Six max's in ten days.. wow. That's pretty cool. Oddly, after I posted this entry I got out my flight bucket and started playing around with other flights. For about a day I was throwing 24 gram Bombs with medium shafts and standard Mini Dimplex flights. Not a bad combo.

Standard flights seem to cause my darts to rise as soon a they leave the hand, but Pears put them on a far straighter line into the board. Some people seem to think the shape with the greatest surface area (Standard, Kite etc) are automatically the best and don't even try Pears.

Right again Tommo, most darters I know do not stray from standard flights at all, for any reason. It is the most common shape by a long shot and a lot of places don't even carry anything other than standards and slims, unfortunately. Thank God for the Internet.
